16.09. Tango-Seminar Tampere

Am vergangenen Freitag fand im Rahmen des Maailman Tango Festival Tampere/Finnland das FINtango-Seminar statt, “Finnischer Tango im Ausland”. Als Hauptrednerin geladen war Maarit Niiniluoto, grande Dame des finnischen Tango. Es kamen zusammen VertreterInnen finnischer Tangobands in Deutschland und Finnland ebenso wie von Kulturinstitutionen, Festivals und andere Tangokulturschaffende. Thema waren die Besonderheiten, Möglichkeiten und Herausforderungen des finnischen Tango gerade im Ausland. Es wurde lebhaft diskutiert, Kontakte neu geknüpft und intensiviert – das alles macht Lust auf viele neue gemeinsame Projekte!

12.00 pm Opening Words of minister Kimmo Tiilikainen – presented by the grand lady of finish tango, Maarit Niiniluoto.

12.15 pm Exporting finnish tango (into the german-speaking world), what is to be expected? Panel discussion on production and artistic perspectives. Input: Simon Riestra / Maailmantango, Andreas Rochholl / Contemporary Tango Festival, Timo Valtonen / FINtango – and others. Discussion: seminar participants and audience.

2.00 pm lunch/coffee break (for participants) during lunch & coffee break, screening of excerpts of 3 movies on Finnish tango as seen by German filmmakers.

2.45 pm Current situation for Finnish tango in Germany/Austria/Switzerland and outlook to emerging program of FINtango and Visit Finland 2017 (as part of Suomi100 program).

3.15 pm Lecture: “I could´t stay without this pain” – How Finnish Tango made it´s way to Nationale Popular Culture and European Championship, Maarit Niiniluoto.

4.15 pm Hands On practice: How to present and convey finnish music and dance culture abroad.

5.00 pm Seminar participants present results of their Hands On practice, music and dance class (English and German).

 

The seminar aims to impart knowledge on the practice of tango and culture export and the means needed for it to succeed in practice. A focus lies on ways for bands to find venues and audiences for different genres in the german-speaking world.
What are the implications on artistic work, concert presentation, and promotion?
Main goal is the start of systematic collaboration in the realisation of the ambitious Suomi100 program for finish tango in Germany/Austria/Switzerland
